Justin started as an ocean lifeguard, then trained as a firefighter, EMT, and paramedic before going to medical school. After finishing an emergency medicine residency, he completed a prehospital and disaster fellowship. He is a co-founder of Lifeguards Without Borders and the International Drowning Researchers Alliance and serves in leadership roles for both. He has extensive experience in the planning and execution of medical coverage for large scale domestic and international events. His passion for community paramedicine comes from a desire to improve outcomes by addressing social determinants of health and meeting people where they are.
