Note to ECPs: The Montana Board of Medical Examiners has approved endorsements to allow Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) to be trained to administer naloxone. The ECP Statewide Protocols have also been updated to allow naloxone administration. Consult with your local medical director about attending the Master Trainer course and providing training to other ECPs.

“The Board of Medical Examiners has added administration of naloxone to the scope of practice protocols for board-licensed Emergency Medical Responders and Emergency Medical Technicians who have naloxone endorsement. Training for that endorsement is supervised by local board-authorized medical directors. The Board has not approved any particular training program.”
